İsmail Kartal, head coach of Turkish football club Fenerbahçe, has resigned from his position.

The 65-year-old coach announced his decision at a press conference following Fenerbahçe’s 1–1 draw against Italian club Roma in the opening round of the league phase of the UEFA Champions League in Istanbul.

Kartal stated that he was leaving his position and would not return to the club.

It is worth noting that İsmail Kartal took charge of Fenerbahçe at the beginning of the current season. The experienced coach had previously managed the Istanbul-based club during the 2014–2015, 2022, and 2023–2024 seasons.
