Archaeologists have made a rare and highly significant discovery for world archaeology on the Mangystau Peninsula, located along Kazakhstan’s Caspian Sea coast.
According to reports, excavations at the Karakabak necropolis near the city of Aktau uncovered the grave of a wealthy young woman who was buried approximately 1,500 years ago, during the 5th–6th centuries.
The most remarkable detail was her elaborate clothing and a pair of golden shoes.
The shoes were not intended for everyday use but were specially made for the burial ceremony.
The fact that the shoes and belt buckles were not designed for practical daily use suggests that these luxurious garments and accessories were not worn during the woman’s lifetime. Archaeologists believe they were specially produced for her burial ceremony.
According to archaeological research, the shoes were designed to give the appearance of being made entirely of gold, making the discovery particularly remarkable.
