Blogger "Arzum" Released to House Arrest

Blogger Ilduza Hajiyeva, widely known by the nickname "Arzum," who is accused of causing a fatal traffic accident that killed one young person, injured another, and fleeing the scene, has been released to house arrest.

According to Faktxeber.az, the decision was made by the Baku Court of Appeal.

The court granted the defense lawyers' request to replace Hajiyeva's pretrial detention with house arrest. It also accepted her appeal for judicial review and ordered that the case be reconsidered through a full court investigation.

It is worth noting that Hajiyeva had previously been sentenced by the Khazar District Court to 5 years and 2 months in prison and was taken into custody in the courtroom immediately after the verdict.

The accident occurred in June 2025 in Mardakan settlement, Khazar District of Baku. As a result of the crash, one person was killed and another was injured.

According to the prosecution, Hajiyeva left the scene after causing the accident.

She has been charged under Article 263.2 of Azerbaijan's Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety or vehicle operation rules resulting in death) and Article 264 (leaving the scene of a traffic accident).
