Shepherd Injured in Ammunition Explosion in Kalbajar

An ammunition explosion occurred in Azerbaijan's Kalbajar district on July 21, leaving one person injured.

According to a joint statement released by the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA), the incident took place in the village of Zaylik, located in the liberated territories of Kalbajar.

The injured individual was identified as Sarkhan Isgandarov, born in 1987 and a resident of the Gazakh district. He was reportedly grazing livestock in an area that had not yet been cleared of explosive hazards when an item of unexploded ordnance detonated, causing injuries.

The Kalbajar District Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the incident.

In their statement, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and ANAMA once again urged the public to strictly observe mine safety regulations, pay close attention to mine warning signs, avoid touching suspicious objects, refrain from entering unfamiliar or uncleared areas, and stay away from fenced-off zones designated for demining operations.
